So first off I am okay, Tuesday was not a good day but I survived. I had a hard day at work and then was in charge of an acitivy that night at the church, it was about as much fun as a root canal for me. By the time I got home I was so full of frustration and emotion a good messy cry was just what I needed. I felt much better afterwards and hopefully my experiance can lead to some changes that will make things run smoother and avoid simalar events in the furture.
Yeasterday Sara, her family and I went out to the Belfair Area to go cabin camping. Dad came up and helped us make chicken and dumplings for dinner. (Ella asked them why they were putting that slime in there when they added the cream of chicken soup). I think day one of the camping trip can best be described by the following clip:
We had fun dispite the rain. We played some uno with Dad and then took turns reading chapters from the Patrick F. McManus books I had brought along. The kids loved the som'ores and we all got to bed early.
We woke up to clear skies this morning so we are hoping it stays for the rest of the trip. I came back to silverdale for church today (I have a meeting I can't miss) and it ended up being for the best as there was a couple of things that were forgotten (hard to believe as I think we even packed the kitchen sink). Anyway I am headed back out after church. Keep a prayer in your hearts for us that the weather decides to stay nice!!

Wicked Weekend
This last weekend I got to do something I have wanted to to for nearly two years. I went and saw the musical Wicked!!

The stage before the show.
My friend Josh and I went down to Portland and stayed with a friend who is in school there. We drove down in street clothes and then somehow convinced a clerk at the front desk of the 24 hour fitness near the theater to let us change in the locker room.

Waiting for the show to start.
As you can tell we were in the nose bleed section but I had remembered the pair of opera glasses I had bought on ebay awhile ago. They came in super handy.

Basking in the glow after the show.
I have to recommend this musical to anyone who likes watching showes where the characters periodically dance about and burst into song. (I do! I do!)

Dad reading a letter he prepared about Bergies exploits at Bergies 65 birthday party. Bergie is sitting to the right in the pink hat. I think both Dad and Bergie got a little verklempt at some point it was really neat!

Janie singing some of the songs she has written about Dennis and her family. It was very sweet. I am glad that this family has been apart of my life they have provided friendship and funny stories for a long time.

And as no trip to Hood River would be complete without it I went to Moms grave and left some flowers.

Let see if I can get it into the trash can on my break!

The Lunch Room Altercation…

So for at work lately I have been diligently packing my lunch everyday. This has been motivated by a couple of factors, namely the café downstairs charges an arm and a leg for a half cup of anything lately, I want to improve my cooking skills and have been making recipes out of a new cook book I own (I’ll do a post on that latter) and I am trying to eat healthier. Well anyway today I brought for lunch some chicken catachatorie and some frozen vegetables with some baklava I made for desert. At 12:30 pm I went into the break room got my food out of the fridge and put the vegetables in the microwave to defrost/cook. I put the chicken catachatorie on top of the microwave to wait on deck while the former was being nuc’ed. Some others filed into the break room during this and started assembling there lunches and a line quickly formed for the microwaves. Well one co-worker noted that I had my vegetables in the microwave and my chicken on deck and did not think this was right. I was asked why I did not microwave them together to which I responded that I prefer to microwave them separate because one is frozen and one is not and my previous experience with doubling up dishes on microwaves is that you have two dishes with hot and cold spots or one steaming and the other luke warm. In a huffy tone said co-worker responded that I was creating problems in delaying the rest of their (her) lunch’s and that it would shorten their (her) eating time so that they (she) would have to burn their (her) mouth eating because their (her) food would not have time to properly cool be for they (she) had to eat it. It was mighty selfless of her to stick up for a room full of people who either did not care or did not care enough to say something (note: I have been in the later category many times on break room etiquette breeches). I stayed silent after this partially in shock. When my vegetables finished cooking and she was still huffing about it I offered in what I hope was my most politest tone, To me it sounded like sarcasm but she bought it, that I would be perfectly content to let her go ahead of me next for the microwave and I would eat my vegetables while she heated her food, which she accepted. What I can’t figure out is how 50+ year old women gets away with throwing tantrums over having to wait in line to use a microwave I though we all learned how to wait our turn in grade school? Anyways........Whatever!
